ASTA standards can provide a product testing solution in the absence of appropriate national, European, or IEC standards.

These standards are particularly useful for products with new or innovative features that exceed the scope of currently issued standards.

The most important requirement is to ensure that the safety of these products is the same as that of products that comply with published standards. The ASTA standard provides a way to reassure designers and manufacturers that their products can be safely sold in the market.

When an application is determined to be related to future products, it is often necessary to submit the requirements of ASTA standards to the committees responsible for national, European, or IEC standards. Afterwards, the new requirements may be integrated into future standards for issuance. For example, plastic needles (known as insulation protection door opening devices) suitable for many Class II applications with BS 1363-1 plugs. Prior to integration into BS 1363-1, the requirement for this innovation originated from an ASTA standard.

ASTA type test certification provides authoritative objective evidence to prove that your customized equipment complies with relevant safety standards. This certificate can be used to support technical documents related to the EU CE mark.

ASTA type test certification is particularly suitable for small or "customized" equipment. When testing one or more samples according to product safety standards, ASTA type test certification will provide you with an independent compliance inspection certification. The issued document is now referred to as the "ASTA Type Test Certificate".

Type test certification does not involve inspection of production facilities and processes. In some markets, type test certification may be sufficient to meet legal or commercial requirements, but in other markets, especially those that focus on the safety and standards of mass-produced products, additional assurance may be required, namely complete certification. All test reports and certificates have been verified by independent Normal testing engineers. The ASTA type test certificate issued is sealed and binding to prevent abuse.

The ASTA 20 Fuse Certification Program has been welcomed by major UK fuse manufacturers and some other manufacturers around the world. This mark is particularly important when supplying to the UK market or other markets affected by UK standards.

The ASTA 20 Fuse Certification Program is specifically designed for the low-voltage fuse market and confirms the safety of fuses by providing a highly renowned logo. The plan was initially limited to BS 88 and BS 1361 standards, but has been expanded to include European standards and the IEC 60269 series standards.

The ASTA 20 Fuse Approval Program includes fuses with a maximum voltage of 1000V AC and 1500V DC. This plan provides a cost-effective solution for third-party approvals with special requirements in the fuse industry, including solutions applicable to various products based on benchmark reference designs.

If the test results are not satisfactory, the ASTA certificate cannot be issued and an ASTA test report will be issued.

The ASTA test report and ASTA certification are similar records of formal and binding tests conducted in accordance with ASTA requirements. Issue ASTA test report when the following reasons occur:

1. The customer may have chosen non-standard ratings.

2. The equipment may be excluded from the scope of a specification due to design reasons.

3. There may not be recognized standards.

4. Customers may wish to conduct rating verification according to the specifications of procurement personnel, users, or manufacturers.

5. Customers may request an accredited laboratory to conduct testing on a limited portion of the project according to any standard or their own specifications.

6. Accredited laboratories may not be able to meet the requirements of a standard due to limitations in testing equipment.
