Restricted Chemical Substances
Red phosphorus test
Red phosphorus has been regulated in recent years due to its use as a restricted or even banned substance by major brand manufacturers, such as:
The concentration of Apxxx red phosphorus shall not exceed 1000 ppm
Lenxxx red phosphorus concentration shall not exceed 100 ppm
Panxxxxxx does not use red phosphorus
However, the accurate determination of red phosphorus has become a testing gap in the industry due to its difficulty in the past period. Buyers, sellers, and testing institutions are all in an awkward situation where they have no way out or can only rely on testing the total phosphorus content as a temporary solution.
Now, NormalTCI Nuomo detection can solve this historical problem for you. We cooperate with various latest advanced technologies and instruments to accurately determine the content of red phosphorus, enabling you to scientifically and effectively respond to the requirements of major brand buyers!
Understanding Red Phosphorus
There are various allotropes of elemental phosphorus, including red phosphorus (also known as red phosphorus), white phosphorus, yellow phosphorus, purple phosphorus, black phosphorus, etc. Red phosphorus is a dark red amorphous powder with a metallic luster, and its properties are more stable than white phosphorus. It does not spontaneously ignite under normal conditions.
Application of Red Phosphorus
Red phosphorus is used as a non halogenated flame retardant in various plastics, rubber and other materials in the electronics industry, with advantages such as low addition, good flame retardant performance, and smokeless combustion. Red phosphorus is also used in the manufacture of matches, pesticides, and organic synthesis.
The hazards of red phosphorus
Red phosphorus can enter the human body through inhalation, ingestion, and skin contact. Frequent intake of red phosphorus dust can cause chronic phosphorus poisoning; Long term skin contact can cause dermatitis. Red phosphorus has certain toxicity to aquatic organisms and can also cause problems such as eutrophication of water bodies. In addition, red phosphorus is prone to absorb moisture and generate highly toxic phosphine gas and corrosive phosphoric acid during storage and production applications.
Control of Red Phosphorus
At present, the restrictions on the use of red phosphorus in products mainly come from the requirements of international buyers. Many electronic and electrical companies in Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and other countries have included red phosphorus in their environmental management standards for products, some have set usage limits, and some even prohibit its use. In addition, many countries have also established control standards for red phosphorus in the workplace environment.
